CATALOGUE NOTES

A pair of famille verte month cup, each of delicately potted U-shape with slight flaring rim. One cup painted with a blossoming apricot tree with red five-pedaled flowers and green clumps of grass (xinghua) emblematic of the second month, the reverse with a flower garland, all on a white porcelain ground. The other painted on both sides with three clumps of purple orchids (lanhua) emblematic of the seventh month. Pictured in Sotheby's Amsterdam catalogue, May 22, 2002, p. 121, Lot 120.
