On one plate, the lady is posed slightly bent over, holding a flywhisk with which she plays with a small yellow cat near her feet. On the second plate, the lady is shown playing with a pet squirrel that sits on her right arm. The cavetto of each plate is decorated with alternating reserves of landscapes in powder blue and gilt; flowering plants in underglaze blue; Precious Things in famille verte. Each rests upon a short foot ring and has a slightly recessed underfoot. The reverse side of each plate is decorated with flowering sprigs along the sides in underglaze blue. The underfoot of each bears in its center double rings drawn in underglaze blue.
