CATALOGUE NOTES

A blue and white circular censer on high splayed foot, the ogee-form exterior painted with two rectangular panels, one containing the Immortals, Shoulao and his attendant all with their various attributes, the other with three lohans sitting on an elephant, Buddhist lions and deer respectively, the panels separated by four vertical lines of Chinese script reading "Admire the haze at the East Sea; Secure long life at the South Palace; Lotus implies a good omen; Feeling calm in the mind under the bright sun", the foot rim with an embryo channeling.
