    CATALOGUE NOTES

    A famille verte cylindrical jar and cover raised on a central high spreading foot with recessed base. On the body each upright handle is formed by two confronting dragon's heads biting on the same pearl. The straight-sided, slightly domed cover has a plain knop finial. Each side is decorated with a shaped rectangular panel; one with large insects and flowering peonies issuing from rockwork; the other with a flowering prunus branch and two bird; all on a green cracked-ice ground with fallen prunus blossom. The straight-sided cover is similarly decorated but with fan-shaped reserves of flowers on the green ground. The spreading base is encircled by a band of ruyi lappets.
