CATALOGUE NOTES

A blue and white vase, the pear shaped body elongating to a tall neck with a flared everted rim. Between two narrow bands of "blobby dots" at the rim and the foot it is finely painted with a continuous  scene depicting an equestrian warrior with three pedestrians carrying standards. This scene is from "The Romance of the Western Chamber" and shows Zanggoong departing to take the imperial examination. Glazed base with stepped channel foot ring.
