CATALOGUE NOTES

A circular box and cover decorated in famille verte enamels; the cover with a central square panel depicting three Daoist scholars standing on a rocky promontory beneath a pine tree, reserved on a stylized peony and green-cell ground, surrounded by a broad band with four shaped reserves containing peony flowers on a dark green speckled ground strewn with small yellow and iron-red flower heads. The box base with a similar band around the exterior. The interior and underside glazed white, the underside also with an underglaze blue double circle.
