CATALOGUE NOTES

A very rare blue and white teapot and cover, of flattened, circular form molded in the center of each side with a ring of petal-forms, applied with an ear-form handle and long, curved spout, topped by a rectangular domed cover with bud-form knop, supported on a short, slightly splayed rectangular foot. Decorated in underglaze blue.

 

Painted on either side with a central medallion containing a blossoming peony branch, enclosed by the ring of shaded blue petals and surrounded by a herringbone diaper. The sides and cover decorated with further foliate sprays. The handle and spout with loosely drawn leafy vines bearing small buds.
